San Juan River easy floats

Looking for some flowing water? Try the San Juan below Navajo reservoir. Class I-II. Fantastic fishing in fact the Gold medal water just below the dam are for fishing only. One mandatory portage. There is lots of camping on BLM property. This is unmarked on the river, so take a map – ideally a public lands map available from the BLM lands office in Durango.

Check the BLM website for Navajo Dam operations to get the flow update, but it usually runs well into August. These sections are being explored and mapped as part of the Four Corners Paddle Trails project.
