Adult Level 3: Intermediate River Running Skills
Our level 3 class is designed for paddlers who have worked on the fundamentals of kayaking and are ready to put their skills to the test! Participants should be confident in class 2 whitewater. We will introduce more advanced kayaking skills such as jet ferries, surfing and combat rolling, as well as continuing to perfect our fundamentals.
Day 1 will begin with a class on hydrology, and how to perform basic safety on the river. Then we will assign gear, load up and head to the river! We will start with a slow moving section that will allow us to go over our fundamentals, run some moderate rapids, and use every eddy as an opportunity to learn! As we move downstream, we can start introducing some more difficult skills such as using waves to our advantage when ferrying. From there, we will move on to even more challenging skills such as surfing waves.
Day 2 will begin by using our on site pool to dial in our rolls. This will provide solid fundamentals to begin attempting combat rolls! We will be able to run a slightly more challenging section of the river than the day before, and further perfect the skills introduced the previous day. By the end of the day, we hope to have nearly perfected our class 2 fundamentals, and given participants the skills to begin working towards running class 3. All necessary gear, transportation, and lunches are provided. The water level and time of year will dictate if we are able to run the in-town whitewater park.
- Duration: 2 day
