Here at 4CRS, we pride ourselves on being one of the longest running kayak schools in the nation. We’ve been teaching whitewater kayaking for over 30 years, using only the best instructing techniques. Our courses, with the help of world class instructors like Kent Ford, will teach you proper kayaking techniques and help you to get you on the river safely, comfortably, as quickly as possible. We offer different class levels, as well as private instruction, for kids, adults and families. We keep our class sizes small, with a maximum of 3/1 student to instructor ratio, to make sure that you learn proper techniques and stay safe. Below is a list of the different kayak courses we offer:
Adult Inflatable Kayak Course
If you are looking to experience the joys of whitewater quickly, look no further. The inflatable kayak class is a great way to get on the river fast. Inflatable kayaks are very user friendly, without the steep learning curve of traditional hard shell kayaks. Two days gives you plenty of time to learn and practice basic paddle strokes, eddy turns, peel outs, ferries, water reading and safety.

Tadpole Kayak Course
A 3-day introductory course for 6-8 year olds in a non-whitewater environment. This is a great course for those looking to get their kids comfortable in and around the water. We’ll work on basic water safety, basic kayak strokes and techniques, and most importantly… have fun!

Whitewater Kayak Level 1 Course
Learn and become comfortable with fundamental kayak skills and maneuvers. This level of class starts with wet-exits in our pool, and then advances to the lake and finally the river. We begin on flat moving water and progress to class I/II whitewater, working on paddle strokes, edging, bracing, eddy-turns, peel-outs, and ferries. We offer Level 1 Courses for Tadpoles (6-8 yrs), Kids (8-10), Youth (10-16), Adults & Parent/Child.

Whitewater Kayak Level 2 Course
The level 2 class is for kayakers who are comfortable but still building confidence in class I/II whitewater. Build on and refine your kayak skills to go beyond the basic level. Review strokes and maneuvers, work on rolls, learn to surf, and get more river running experience. We offer the Level II course for Kids, Youth, Adults & Families*.

Whitewater Kayak Level 3 Course
These classes are for kayakers who are solid on class I/II whitewater and have significant kayaking experience. More time is spent on class II/III whitewater, with attention to improving technique. We focus on advanced river running skills and maneuvers, surfing, playboating, and fine-tuning your roll. Level III Courses are offered for Youth & Adults*.

Kids Kayak Camp
The best way to get your kid on the river! Mix and match any three Levels of kids hard shell or inflatable kayak classes, including Kids River Skills. Start with an Inflatable or Level 1 class and go from there! You may take as many of the same level of classes as necessary. Class choices may be modified later to fit the students needs. Ages 6-16.

Kids River Skills
Join us for an introduction to river safety and reading the river for kids. We will cover topics like river terminology, signals, water reading, whitewater swimming, wading, and rope skills. Throughout the week we will also explore different crafts of the river, from stand up paddleboards to kayaks and/or inflatable kayaks. If you are unsure about getting on the water or just want to try out the many ways to get of ways to get on the water, then this class is for you! Ages 8-16

Have you never kayaked or SUPed before? Or are you looking for some playboating tips or just looking to perfect your roll or forward stroke? No matter your skill level, with private instruction we can cater to your specific paddling needs and goals. This will get you out on the water faster and with more confidence! Private instruction can be scheduled for kayak, IK, SUP, canoe or raft.
- 2 Hours – $150
- 1/2 Day – $215
- Full Day – $400
If you have a group of three people with similar kayaking experience, we can schedule you anytime as long as we’re not fully booked. This option is perfect for those paddlers that want a group lesson with a group of friends or family, or have a group that wants to work on specific skills. For adults, the class will be similar to our Adult 2 Day class. For kids, the class will follow a similar format to any of our regular kids classes for Tadpole, Little Kids, or Youth ages.

Our outdoor pool is a perfect place to learn or practice your rolls. Schedule a 2-hour roll clinic with an instructor or buy a year long pool pass to practice by yourself.
